Election 2026 America Votes New York

The first polling sites have opened across much of the East Coast on Election Day in the U.S. midterm elections. Voting was mostly smooth, even as flooding in Florida and parts of the Southwest were leading to some changes to polling locations. In New York's Westchester County, where some voters are casting ballots in a competitive U.S. House race, an issue with voting machines accepting paper ballots was requiring ballots to be diverted to emergency bags for later counting, but voting was ongoing. The final day of voting arrives against a backdrop of uncertainty after a year in which President Donald Trump has tried to interfere in how states run their elections. Trump also has sown doubt in the integrity of the election, as he has in the past.
