Stocks are flirting with records in mixed trading on Wall Street. The S&P 500 rose 0.1% Tuesday after drifting earlier between modest gains and losses. At one point, it was sitting just above its all-time high set a couple weeks ago. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 181 points to its own record, and the Nasdaq composite rose 0.1%. The action was stronger in the bond market, where Treasury yields fell following a discouraging report on the strength of U.S. shoppers. That raised expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates later this year to boost the economy.
