Israeli President Isaac Herzog has given opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot the first chance to form the next government. Eisenkot, who ran against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, now faces complex negotiations with potential coalition partners. He has six weeks to form a government. The recent elections did not give either Netanyahu or Eisenkot a clear majority in parliament. Arab-led parties, which made historic gains, could be key allies. However, cooperation with them is politically challenging. Eisenkot must navigate these alliances while Netanyahu attempts to block his efforts. If Eisenkot fails, Netanyahu could get another chance to form a government.
