Asian shares have fallen and U.S. futures have edged lower as markets worldwide watch for the results of the U.S. midterm elections. Oil prices also declined. Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped to its lowest level since May, with losses for OpenAI investor SoftBank Group and memory chipmaker Kioxia. South Korea’s Kospi extended its losses as SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics tumbled further. On Tuesday, the S&P 500 rose 0.4%, even though the majority of stocks within the index fell. The Dow industrials lost 0.4%, and the Nasdaq composite added 0.8%. Share prices have wavered as technology and artificial-intelligence stocks have been hit by bouts of selling by investors worried their prices have shot too high.
