To celebrate America's 250th birthday, the federal government will issue limited edition Social Security cards to all babies born now through the end of 2026.
The cards feature the 'Freedom 250' logo on the right in black ink and are part of the Enumeration at Birth (EAB) program, where parents at hospitals, birthing centers, or those using licensed midwives can request a Social Security number during the birth registration process.
The Social Security Administration says cards issued outside of the mentioned timeframe and all replacement and duplicate cards will not carry the commemorative designation regardless of the cardholder's birth date.
