There's less of a risk that a damaged chemical tank in Southern California could explode after a crack in the tank relieved pressure and cooled the hazardous chemical inside. Officials said Monday that crews conducted tank temperature checks overnight. Orange County Fire Authority division chief Craig Covey said Monday that the crews confirmed the temperature in the tank is falling, describing this as “incredibly positive news.” Nevertheless, some 50,000 residents of nearby Garden Grove who were ordered to evacuate are not yet allowed to return to their homes.
