Prosecutors say a visitor from Canada maliciously harmed a flamingo at an iconic Las Vegas hotel when he removed the bird from its enclosure earlier this year and brought it to his room. The man's defense attorney told jurors at trial Monday that it was a drunken act and that he never intended any harm to the flamingo. Mitchell Fairbarn of Ontario, Canada, is charged with two counts of animal cruelty in a Nevada court. Authorities allege he entered the flamingo habitat at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino on March 3 and took a bird named Peachy.
