Democratic states file new lawsuit seeking to block Trump’s order limiting mail voting in midterms

Democratic-controlled states have filed a new lawsuit to block President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to limit mail voting in this year’s midterm elections. The litigation, filed Wednesday by about two dozen states against the U.S. Postal Service, comes after the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority threw out an injunction the same plaintiffs won earlier. In their new lawsuit, Democrats noted the Republican administration’s concrete steps to implement Trump’s directive. The Postal Service issued a final rule governing ballot delivery, posted Friday night. Another injunction currently blocks the mail ballot order, but the administration argues it should be rescinded following the high court ruling.
