Rain hammered several areas of Thailand’s capital, disrupting traffic and forcing hundreds to evacuate. The deluge started Thursday afternoon. The Meteorological Department warned the rain will continue through Sunday due to a strong low-pressure system and southwest monsoon conditions. Accumulated rainfall in major canals has exceeded 7.8 inches, causing widespread flooding, especially in central and eastern parts. More than 84,000 people in 21 provinces have been affected. Authorities sent emergency warnings to residents. Many businesses closed on Saturday, and some regional bus services were suspended. Despite the chaos, airport traffic operations remain normal, though some flights might face delays.
