Attorney General Todd Blanche is defending the Trump administration’s lawsuit to block certification of Alaska's Senate results if incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan loses the race. Blanche says the legal challenge filed last week was a necessary step to avoid confusing voters in the closely watched midterm race. Trump says he told his administration to file the case. Republicans fear that a second candidate on the ballot who is named Dan Sullivan could siphon away votes from the senator and tip the outcome in favor of Democrat Mary Peltola. That Dan Sullivan is a retired teacher and school administrator from a tiny fishing community.
