President Donald Trump is escalating his attacks against Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed with rhetoric that questions the Muslim candidate’s loyalties to the U.S. and repeatedly tries to tie him to extremism. El-Sayed has repeatedly disavowed claims by Republicans that he is connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and said he is loyal to the U.S. Trump made the comments during a rally Sunday in Michigan. Republicans are hoping to flip a Senate seat as they try to hold onto the majority in the chamber. El-Sayed faces Republican Mike Rogers, a former congressman backed by Trump.
