U.S. Employers Added 559,000 Jobs In May, With Unemployment Falling To 5.8%

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation has released its June 2026 economic report.

Compared to May 2026, Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 5.1 percent and the labor force decreased by 6,845.

The seasonally adjusted total number of nonfarm jobs in Nevada was 1,614,100, an increase of 2.3% over the past year and an increase of 3,800 jobs since May 2026.

Breaking down those numbers by area:

  • Reno employment decreased by 600 jobs (-0.2%) since May and increased by 4,200 jobs (1.5%) since June 2025.

  • Carson City employment decreased by 100 jobs (-0.3%) since May and decreased by 200 jobs (-0.6%) since June 2025.

  • Las Vegas employment increased by 3,000 jobs (0.3%) since May and increased by 25,600 jobs (2.2%) since June 2025.
