Due to whiteout conditions on the highway, Caltrans has closed part of U.S. 395 in Mono County.
The highway is currently closed from Gorge Road just north of the city of Bishop to the town of Bridgeport, and the closure is anticipated to remain in place overnight.
U.S. 6 in Bishop remains open as an alternative route, which connects to Nevada 95.
While this stretch of U.S. 395 is closed, Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol will continue to escort vehicles between Bishop and the junction with State Route 203/Mammoth Lakes.
Caltrans is asking drivers to limit non-essential travel. If you must travel, they recommend checking the Caltrans website and Quickmap.dot.ca.gov before you get on the road.
You can also call the Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD.
