Several dozen protesters gathered in downtown Reno to rally in support of Palestine Sunday afternoon.
The protest began with speeches in front of the Bruce R. Thompson Courthouse on South Virginia Street. People spoke in support of Palestinians while denouncing the actions of Israel and America's response to the conflict in the region.
Many signs held by demonstrators denounced what is happening in Gaza as a genocide.
"Palestinians are a colonized people. Colonized people will always resist, have always resisted," said Khaz, who helped organize the rally.
After the speakers were finished, demonstrators marched in the streets from in front of the courthouse through midtown to the roundabout at South Virginia and Center Streets before returning to the courthouse.
Throughout the rally and the march, several passing cars honked both in support of the rally and against it, with several people shouting in agreement or to criticize from their windows.
"It, for me, shows that there is a significant amount of kind of grassroots energy and momentum for people who have humanity and are concerned about the fact that our government is funding a genocide in Gaza," said Khaz about the turnout at the rally.
The event was put together by several different area groups, including Radical Seeds Reno.
