Some older bridges over the Truckee River will be replaced with construction beginning as soon as next year.

The Regional Transportation Commission has multiple major bridge replacement projects, with one starting as soon as 2025.

The design for the Arlington project is complete with construction starting sometime next year.

In the meantime, the RTC tells us that they will continue doing smaller maintenance jobs that won't cause major delays.

"A lot of the stuff that we do in the interim, that's kind of the smaller projects are adding ITS improvements, adding intelligent traffic system signals so that your lights work a little faster, doing pavement preservation," said Josh Maceachern, Public Information Officer for the Regional Transportation Commission.

The RTC is hosting a public meeting about the Sierra Street Bridge Project on Thursday, March 21.

The Keystone Avenue Bridge Project is expected to be finished last of the three.
