A Reno man who shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child will spend the rest of his life in prison. 

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Guy Lambert, who previously pleaded guilty, was also sentenced to a consecutive 20 years for a deadly weapon enhancement, on top of the First Degree Murder sentence.

Prosecutors say he shot and killed 28-year-old Tiffanie Self and their four-month-old unborn child in 2020 at a Park Street apartment. 

During the investigation, officers discovered that Self had been staying at a friend’s apartment following a fight with Lambert. She said she was fearful of the Lambert, needed a place to hide from him, and asked the friend not to tell him she was there. Prosecutors say Lambert had been searching for Self, and when he learned where Self was hiding from a mutual acquaintance, he got a handgun, forced his way into the apartment, shot Self, and ran away. 

Lambert was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. 

NOVEMBER 16, 2020:

The Reno Police Department says on Friday officers arrested a suspect in connection to a deadly shooting that happened last weekend near Park Street.

Officials say 34-year-old Guy Lambert was arrested in connection to the murder of 28-year-old Tiffanie Self.

They said Lambert and Self were in a relationship prior to the homicide.

A woman was shot dead inside a Reno apartment complex early Sunday afternoon, police say. 

Officers responded to the scene and found the unidentified woman inside the Park Street apartment, right before 4 p.m. 

She later died at Renown Regional Medical Center. 

Detectives believe witnesses may have additional information regarding the shooting.

Detectives do not believe this was a random act. 

The investigation is ongoing.
