The Reno Police Department has arrested a Sparks man in connection with Saturday's gang-related shooting in Midtown.

After an investigation concluded by the Reno Police Robbery/Homicide Unit and the Regional Gang unit, 19-year-old David Martinez II, of Sparks was arrested for Open Murder with a deadly weapon. on Sunday, June 9.

Update: June 8, 

One man is dead following an early-morning gang shooting in Midtown, according to the Reno Police Department.

The shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. near the corner of S Virginia St. and Thoma St.

Secret Witness is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of suspects connected to the shooting.

Detectives from RPD's Robbery/Homicide Unit and the Gang Unit have taken over the investigation. They say because the shooting appears to be gang-motivated, there is no apparent threat to the community.
