President Trump had a successful week as he was named the Republican nominee and survived an assassination attempt. A federal judge ruled in his favor, while his opponent, President Joe Biden, faced negative press.
Seeing endorsements from former foes like Nikki Haley and Marco Rubio and business titans like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, Trump Campaign Deputy Communications Director Caroline Sunshine told us the momentum was high.
"I think it's a very hopeful week for our country; that's how we feel here. We feel positive, we feel hopeful, we feel strong. Courage is contagious," said Trump Campaign 2024 Deputy Communications Director Caroline Sunshine.
While Democrats focused on Project 2025, the former president's campaign claimed the 2024 Republican Party Platform as its official guidance, calling the plan common-sense policy positions that are popular with the American people.
"A secure border, keeping us out of war, no tax on tips for hospitality workers. Making sure what we're teaching in our schools isn't harmless to our children, supporting the Constitution, supporting our right to free speech, and the Second Amendment. To express ourselves freely. Those are things that transcend all stars and stripes," said Caroline Sunshine.
The Silver State had a significant impact at the RNC. Sam Brown, a Republican candidate who could help Republicans gain control of the U.S. Senate, delivered a speech and received praise from President Trump.
"I'll work with President Trump to cut taxes and help struggling Nevada service workers," said Sam Brown in his address to the Republican National Convention.
Two Nevada locals took the stage, delivering messages that resonated with the audience. Linda Fornos, a single mom and naturalized immigrant from Nicaragua, shared how "Bidenomics" has failed her family.
Randy Sutton, retired Lieutenant of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and National Spokesperson for the American Council on Public Safety, spoke at the convention. He shared insights from his 34 years in law enforcement and discussed the impact of current administration policies.
"A ton of positive energy in the room last night. Everyone is just relieved that President Trump survived the assassination attempt, and the message of unity has been loud and clear. But I also wanted to talk just because of my personal experience of a message of hope. There are times we have difficulty, but we can find strength and hope in those tough times as well," said Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Sam Brown.
With President Biden's candidacy in doubt, Democrats will take the stage this upcoming week, which could lead to another unprecedented convention.
