A citywide ban on single-use plastic water bottles will go into effect in South Lake Tahoe on Monday, April 22.
These bottles include a "plastic container of less than one gallon containing non-sparkling, unflavored drinking water," according to the city's website.
The city council approved this ban in 2022.
A first-time violation comes with a fine of up to $100. A second offense will cost $200, and any further violations will include a fine of up to $500.
