Cherished by generations of residents over the years. "2024" marks Block "C"'s 100-Year anniversary.Â
The symbol was originally constructed in 1924, by a group called the "Block C Society", as a symbol of unity and school spirit.Â
Over the years, the "C" has gone through an annual transformation for several decades.
Although not school-supported or sanctioned, the highly visible landmark over the years has unofficially been changed to encompass the two-digit number of each year's graduating class.
The class year is typically added in the last week of May or the first week of June, based on graduation dates.Â
The symbol remains visible for miles around the community, and the symbol stands as a testament to its community's spirit and school pride.Â
Once ceremonies commence, the symbolic "C" is converted back to its original state on the hillside, typically by the high school football team, local organizations, patriotic citizens and volunteers who appreciate the importance of the enduring emblem.Â
