In an online post, residents are being warned of a toxic algae bloom suspected at Virginia Lake, in Reno.
The Nevada Division of Conservation and Natural Resources along with other government agencies says the algae can cause serious health conditions to people and their pets.
Officials say that hazardous conditions are possible or present in the lake.
People and their pets should use caution when in or around the water.Â
Officials warn the community to avoid any areas where algae has accumulated.
If you see water that looks discolored or smells bad, use caution and stay away.Â
