Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue held their second Green Waste Collection Day today, but if you missed it there will be many other opportunities for you to drop off your green waste.
On Sunday, October 8th, locals dropped off their green waste at the Nevada Division of Forestry Fire Station on Eastlake Boulevard in Washoe Valley and in Wadsworth at 400 Stampmill Road.
Waste will be collected from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each location, and during subsequent waste collection events.
Green Waste Collection Days offer the best alternative to creating defensible space.
Green waste collection allows residents to dispose of their dry and dead vegetation, shrubs, tree branches, and other wildland fuels to encourage the creation of defensible space to protect homes and property from wildfires.
The events are free for all Washoe County residents and will happen weather permitting. Check this link before the event you wish to go to in order to be sure it hasn't been canceled due to weather or a red flag warning.
