A hiker who had become stranded was carried away to safety on Friday through a coordinated effort between multiple agencies.

According to a post from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) on Facebook, volunteers from the office’s Search and Rescue Team were activated Friday to help a woman experiencing medical issues that left her stranded high in Water Canyon.

Working in collaboration with the HCSO’s Dispatch Center, the Search and Rescue Team was able to lock in on GPS coordinates of the hiker, allowing them to find her and bring her to safety.

She was then transported to a local hospital by Humboldt General Hospital Ambulance and Rescue.

The identity of the hiker has not been shared at this time.
