Two men have been arrested following a fight outside a Virginia City saloon early Saturday morning that turned into an attack on a deputy which sent the deputy to the hospital.
Deputies with the Storey County Sheriff's Office responded to a fight outside the Ponderosa Saloon in Virginia City just before 1:15 a.m., according to a release on the Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.
Steven James Dawson and Cory Kai Evans were fighting each other.
A deputy attempting to break up the fight was allegedly attacked by both men but was able to place both Dawson and Evans under arrest.
The deputy was later treated and released from a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Evans was charged with battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm and aggravated assault, resist public officer, affray (fighting in public), and disturbing the peace.
Dawson was charged with battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm and aggravated assault, resist public officer, breach of peace, expired registration, and no proof of insurance.
