Mendive Middle School in Sparks was briefly put on a Code Red Lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a student reported seeing someone with a firearm off campus during dismissal.

Students were immediately brought back inside, and School Police responded.

Officers placed the school on a code Yellow while they investigated the situation.

At approximately 3:08 p.m., the school announced on the Washoe County School District (WCSD) website that the school was no longer under a lockdown and returning to normal operations.

No one was injured.

Marvin Moss Elementary School was also under a code yellow-secured campus, but it has since returned to normal operations - about 20 minutes after the initial announcement was made by the WCSD on its website just before 1:45 p.m.
