April 21 to 27 is National Volunteer Week and community members are invited to get involved by attending the First Volunteer & Foster PAW-looza, hosted by Options Veterinary Care nonprofit clinic.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Education Room at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.
17 local rescue groups will be in attendance, listed below:

- Chihuahua Rescue of Truckee Meadows
- Community Cats
- Enchanted Cat Cafe
- Feral at Heart
- For Pet’s Sake
- Nevada Humane Society
- Options Veterinary Care nonprofit clinic
- Pawsibilities
- Pet Network
- Precious Paws
- Res-Que
- Scaredy Cats TNR
- SPCA of Northern Nevada
- Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF)
- Washoe County Regional Animal Services
The event is free and open to anyone who has an interest in helping animals.Â
There will also be the Big Blue Q Tahoe food truck, along with activities and giveaways.Â
The first 75 people who sign up to volunteer or foster for any of the groups will receive a free churro.
