Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks says charges will not be filed yet against either of the two drivers - suspected of DUI - in the crashes that led to the death of a Good Samaritan near Mt. Rose Highway last month.
As we reported, Christine Gschwind-Wright was hit by a driver and killed along I-580 southbound after helping someone else involved in a separate crash.
Both drivers were set to be formally arraigned this week on the original charges that they were arrested for, but District Attorney Hicks says that due to the complexity of the case, they are filing a no issue memorandum.
Hicks says this is being done so they can properly determine who was truly at fault for Gschwind-Wright's death. With the no issue memorandum being filed, both defendants in this case will no longer need to appear in court until formal charges have been filed.
The defendants in this case have been identified as Brandon Salazar Garcia, who was initially charged with a DUI misdemeanor for the first vehicle crash, and Kianna Garcia, who was initially charged with DUI resulting in death for the second crash.
Family members of the victim are supportive of this action.
Officials are hoping to wrap up the investigation in 60 to 90 days.

Original Story:
A woman who stopped to assist a driver involved in a crash Saturday morning was killed after being hit by a car driven by a driver suspected to be under the influence.
Nevada State Police say at around 2:15am Saturday morning, a crash involving a single vehicle occurred in the number two lane of southbound I-580 just south of Mt. Rose Highway.Â
A good Samaritan described as an adult female witnessed the crash and stopped to provide assistance.Â
Shortly after the first crash, a second vehicle struck the original crash as well as the Good Samaritan.
As a result of the second crash, the Good Samaritan was declared deceased after medical personal arrived.
Impairment is suspected in both crashes.
Southbound I-580 near Mt. Rose Highway was closed for hours but has since reopened.Â
The drivers of both vehicles involved in each crash have been arrested.Â
This is a developing story and we will update as we learn more.Â
