The Nevada Department of Transportation and Visit Carson City are inviting school kids to participate in an art contest focusing on walk and bicycle safety.
The grand prize winner will have their art painted on a mural in Carson City during the Carson City Mural and Music Festival in September.
The contest is open to students K-12. All art must be drawn by hand in watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic oil paint, marker, pen or crayon on an 11x17 or similar size piece of paper.
Artwork should highlight traffic safety elements.
Submissions must be received by Sept. 1, at Active Transportation Office, NDOT Active Transportation, 1263 South Stewart Street, Room 319, Carson City, NV. 89712, or via e-mail to activetransportation@dot.nv.gov.
The art contest is part of Nevada’s Safe Routes to School program, which provides training, infrastructure and resources for elementary schoolchildren to safely walk and bicycle to school.
