A Washoe County Detention Facility inmate passed away.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, the inmate was transported to a local hospital due to a medical emergency.

Despite medical interventions, the inmate passed away on Monday, March 11.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives and Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office will conduct official death investigations.

The investigation is ongoing, but the Sheriff's Office does not suspect foul play or criminal activity at this time. 

The name of the inmate will be released once the next of kin is notified.
