With the weather getting warmer, more people are enjoying outdoor activities, including hiking.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is reminding people how to protect themselves from becoming a victim of theft while hiking.
They shared these tips:
- Remember to lock your car doors and roll up the windows.
- Leave valuable items at home, or take them with you.
- If you must leave something valuable in your car, keep it out of sight.
- Be aware of other cars in the parking lot.
- Be extra cautious if you are hiking between dusk and dawn.
