The Washoe County School Board has approved the hiring of former superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill to serve as interim superintendent beginning December 13th.

The measure was approved unanimously.

McNeil stepped down as superintendent late last year.

The board also directed current superintendent Dr. Susan Enfield to create a transition plan with McNeill.

Enfield is stepping down as superintendent in February.

Washoe County School District leaders are set to discuss several topics at this week's public meeting, including naming an interim superintendent.

Trustees will discuss a potential employment agreement with Dr. Kristen McNeill to serve as interim superintendent beginning December 13, 2023. Her possible appointment comes after Dr. Susan Enfield recently announced her resignation for February 9, 2024. 

Also, Trustees are scheduled to discuss whether to approve the final district-wide Facility Modernization Plan (FMP) as recommended by the Capital Funding Protection Committee.

And also, Trustees will hear a presentation and announce the results of the 13th Annual Holiday Card competition among students.

The board meeting is Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the WCSD Administration Building, 425 E. Ninth Street in Reno.
