Brazilians are heading to the polls for a high-stakes presidential election. Incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and top rival Flávio Bolsonaro are battling for outright victory. A runoff will be held on Oct. 25 if neither candidate gets 50% of the vote. Almost 159 million Brazilians are eligible to vote in this crucial election. The outcome could hinge on support for other candidates. Lula is a Washington critic and Beijing partner. Bolsonaro is the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro and is aligned with U.S. President Donald Trump. The election is marked by polarization and accusations.
