Hours after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, the NFL announced that Tampa will host Super Bowl LV in 2021.Â
The game will be held at Raymond James Stadium, which is home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This is the fifth Super Bowl being hosted in the Tampa area, the first since Super Bowl XLIII in 2009 and the third held at Raymond James Stadium (Super Bowl XXXV in 2001 and Super Bowl XLIII in 2009).
Super Bowl LV will be played on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.
"We are now going to transition to our hundred-and-first season. It's hard to say that right now. But looking forward to that and looking forward to Super Bowl 55 in Tampa. Obviously, Raymond James Stadium and the Tampa community will be a wonderful place for Super Bowl 55. They're well experienced themselves. And we look forward to having a great event there," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.Â
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET and will live on CBS, 2 News.Â
On Sunday, the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers, 20-31 for its first championship in 50 years.Â
