UPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) released new information on a fatal crash that happened on US-50 near Briggs Lane last Thursday.
Officials said around 5:44 p.m., troopers were sent to a crash involving a pedestrian in the area.
They said a preliminary investigation shows a gray 2001 Ford Excursion was traveling eastbound on US-50 in the right lane, west of Churchill County at mile marker 16. They said a pedestrian was standing in the right lane, east of the Ford Excursion. Officials said the Ford hit the pedestrian and 18-year-old Jonathan Payne of Stockton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said NHP is seeking additional witnesses to the crash. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Trooper Comish at acomish@dps.state.nv.us and reference NHP case #200100672.
