NV Energy reports dozens of power outages across Washoe County affected more than 5,100 customers on Monday.
The biggest outage is in the 89431 zip code of Sparks and affected more than 1,500 customers. Some power has been restored in this area and now 1,618 customers are still without power.
NV Energy says a bird hit some equipment, and when crews tried to fix the issue, another power failure happened making the outage bigger.
NV Energy most of the outages will be fixed by 1 p.m. on Monday.
Another big outage is affecting the 89512 zip code of Reno. NV Energy reports a pole-mounted failure caused this outage.
Nearly 930 customers are affected by this outage which is supposed to be fixed by 12:30 p.m.
Another large outage that affected more than 200 customers happened in the 89503 zip code area within Reno. That outage has since been fixed.
