The Nevada Board of Regents is expected to choose the next leader of Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno.
Chancellor Dan Klaich has recommended the board appoint J. Kyle Dalpe to be acting president once current president Maria Sheehan retires in January.
Klaich also recommends that regents meeting on Friday launch a national search for Sheehan's permanent successor. If Dalpe is named acting president, he won't be able to take over the position permanently.
Dalpe has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has worked at the community college since 2002, and serves as Sheehan's chief of staff.
Klaich described Dalpe as "presidential material" and said he had broad support among groups inside and outside of the college.
His proposed annual salary is $140,000. (AP)
