Reno Blues Society Hosts 'Balloons and Blues Strut'

From the Reno Blues Society:

The Reno Blues Society is putting a new spin on the pub crawl craze with the inaugural "Balloons and Blues Strut" on September 10 at five venues on East 4th Street with a local blues band at each venue playing between 5:30 and 9:30pm.

It's balloon race weekend so to encourage those folks looking for earlier entertainment that day, they would have an option. Band times are being staggered slightly to encourage attendees to see all bands at each of the five venues and to accommodate some of the bands who have another playing engagement that day.

"We wanted to do something a little different than a traditional blues festival at one venue and we like to support our local bands and musicians so we came up with a blues strut as we're calling it and looked for a place with several venues within a short walking distance of each other. We found that with the five venues on East 4th, all within a two-block span, and each place regularly book bands into their respective establishment so the bar and venue owners were receptive to the idea," Jamie Klund, Reno Blues Society president said.

All stages will be indoors except the Lincoln Lounge's stage is in their beer garden. The band lineup and schedule includes the Whiskey Haulers starting things off from 5:30-8:30 at Abby Hwy. 40, the Rick Hammond Band playing from 6:00-8:00pm at Davidson's Distillery, Rick Metz and friends taking the stage from 6:00-9:00pm at the Morris Hotel, the Jason King Band performing from 6:30-9:00pm at Studio on 4th and the Blues Monsters capping the evening off 7:00-9:30 at the Lincoln Lounge.

Wristbands will be available at any of the venues that evening and entitles folks to all the live music and drink specials at each venue.

This event is a fundraiser for the Reno Blues Society, a 501 ( c ) 3 organization with some of the proceeds also benefiting music programs in the Washoe County School District.
