Authorities say an investigation launched after a car fire on North Virginia Street late last month has found no evidence of arson, and therefore a cause remains undetermined.Â
Reno Fire says there was "no evidence of any incendiary devices, nor any evidence of any accelerant." At this time, they say there's also no evidence of anyone or cars at the scene, other than the victim, prior to the September 29th fire.Â
RFD says an interview with the victim confirmed that he did not see anyone or cars at the scene.
A person of interest was identified early on in the investigation. They say the person was interviewed, and cleared by the Reno Police and RFD.
At this time, RFD says neither accidental heat sources nor criminal activity have been ruled out.Â
Anyone with information about the fire can call RFD at 775-334-2300, or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900, or text your tip to 847411. Your information will remain anonymous.
Reno Fire previously said that they found a man sleeping in the car who suffered minor injuries.Â
According to this social media post, the fire was caused by a fire-bomb intentionally thrown at the car.
RFD says they are aware of the post.
