The Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada (RMHCNN) welcomed the first families into its newly renovated Reno house last week.

The house, located on Maine Street within walking distance of Renown Children's Hospital, houses families who live more than 30 miles from Reno and have a seriously ill child undergoing treatment locally.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada says the spaces are used by hundreds of family members each year.

The remodel included updating the furniture and fixtures, updating all bathrooms and the playroom and replacing the flooring throughout the home. RMHCNN says they also added an additional "clean room" for families with children undergoing oncology care.

The organization says families staying at the house must follow certain guidelines to maintain the health of all who board here.
