The Reno Redevelopment Agency (RDA) has selected 23 projects for its upcoming ReStore Facade and Tenant Improvement Program.

The program, which approved  $1 million in matching funds aimed at updating commercial properties and supporting small businesses in Redevelopment Areas 1 and 2.

The agency received 34 applications requesting a combined $2.5 million. After a review process, officials approved 23 projects that will lead to upgrades for 13 buildings, improvements to 28 storefronts, and the launch of 11 new businesses.

“These projects will significantly reshape key downtown corridors and reflect the continued demand for reinvestment in older and underutilized spaces,” said Reno Vice Mayor and RDA Board Member Miguel Martinez. “The ReStore Program is one of our most effective tools for driving economic development, supporting small businesses, and enhancing the look and feel of Reno’s urban core.”

Awardees include properties on North Virginia Street, West First Street, West 2nd Street, East 2nd Street, University Way, South Virginia Street, and East 4th Street.  To see a full list of the awardees, click here

The ReStore Program offers matching reimbursements of up to $50,000 for exterior and interior improvements.

Program leaders say the work helps modernize aging buildings, reduce vacancies, and support long-term commercial growth in downtown neighborhoods.

This funding cycle represents $20 million in total improvements and a 20-to-1 private-to-public investment match, meaning each public dollar is paired with $20 in private funding.
