The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is inviting the public to come to and share their ideas as the RTC develops the long-range transportation plan for the region, the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan.
This plan is updated every four years and is developed with extensive community input. The 2040 RTP Community Planning Workshop is Thursday, August 4th. The workshop will be held at the Nugget in the Bonanza rooms A and B from 5 to 7 pm.
“As we move forward to adopt the 2040 RTP in the coming months, community input is needed to create our future vision for transportation in the region,” RTC Director of Planning Amy Cummings said.’
Some of the ideas that have been submitted so far include: rail service between Reno and the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, streetcar service on Virginia Street and to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, more bus service, a new road linking Spanish Springs and I-80 and a new road linking Spanish Springs and the North Valleys.
