The Washoe County School District's Board of Trustees will have a second chance to either approve or deny a change to its sexual education curriculum.
In June Trustees approved to adopt lesson plans on healthy relationships and consent. However, it sent the lesson on gender identity and sexual orientation back to the S.H.A.R.E Committee for review.
On Wednesday the S.H.A.R.E committee voted 7-2, to move forward with presenting the lesson to the Board of Trustees once again. The proposed curriculum consists of terminology associated with gender identity and sexual orientation, myths and facts, and an activity that involves scripts.
Officials say the proposal is expected to be added the school district's agenda at one of its regular board meetings on September 10. The Regular Meeting of Board of Trustees starts at 4 p.m.
