Washoe County commissioners have voted 4-1 to canvass the results of two primary election races that underwent recounts. The vote reverses a previous vote on the issue made by the Commission.
The group, Locals for Affordable Housing, has launched a canvassing campaign targeted towards South Lake Tahoe. They are advocating for an annual vacancy property tax to be imposed on the more than 7,000 unoccupied homes in the resort town.
The Justices officially declared the canvass by signing abstracts detailing the vote results provided by the secretary of state.
Interim Registrar of Voters Jamie Rodriguez presented a summary of the election, which saw voter turnout of 64 percent.
By law, the canvass has to happen before results are certified by the state that's expected to happen November 22nd.
The decison comes after Clark County released 22,323 votes Saturday night that saw Cortez Masto pick up 14,084 votes to Laxalt's 8,239.
The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners approved the canvass of the recount vote on Thursday.
The official results will be sent to the Nevada Secretary of State to be certified with other county results in Nevada.
