The Reno Aces held their first Education Day of the season for more than 2,500 students from several different school districts.
While some school districts, like the Washoe County School District, started their first day of school last week, a handful of other counties started today.
Washoe County School District students return to school August 12th with new Superintendent Joe Ernst leading the district. He sat down with 2 News Nevada for a one-on-one interview ahead of the school year.Â
The drive's focus is to help northern Nevada students, teachers and schools by alleviating education-related financial hardships they incur. Â
The Carson City School District is holding a Career Fair on Thursday, February 22 from noon until 2 p.m.
Teachers at eight Washoe County schools received $150,000 in education enhancement awards.
The Guard says it wants to be more diverse and allow more opportunities for under-represented communities.
The original outlined retention bonus specified it was only for certain hard-to-fill positions. Under the new tentative agreement any special educator would qualify for a one time $5,000 signing or retention bonus.
