Fire crews say they are no longer actively searching for a man who fell into the Truckee River near the Virginia Street Bridge on Saturday night. Crews say they called off the search on Sunday afternoon. 

What was once over a 100-year-old bridge in downtown Reno is now brand new, and re-opened to the public Tuesday afternoon. 

The Virginia Street Bridge will reopen to the public on Tuesday, after nearly a year of construction.

Crews are making progress on the Virginia Street Bridge. Demolition of the old one began in May, and now the centerpieces of the new one are taking shape.

The Reno City Council will vote on the final color scheme for the Virginia Street Bridge on Wednesday. The rails will be one of four shades of gray, with different options for the sidewalks and three choices for the color of the arches.

The demolition and replacement of the Virginia Street Bridge is going as planned with some very important elements of the project taking shape.

Construction crews have discovered contaminated soil under the Virginia Street Bridge. And it could cost up to $400,000 to fix it.
