Tuesday Deadline for Nevada Voter ID Petitions

The Nevada Secretary of State's Office says that Sharron Angle has filed with the Carson City office as a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

Angle, who won the Republican primary in 2010 is making her second run for the senate.

She lost to Senator Harry Reid in the general election six years ago.

Angle joins eight other Republicans who have filed to run to fill the Senator's seat.

In response, Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Zukowski released the following statement:

“Nevada Republicans now have a choice between an anti-immigrant TEA Party Republican known for saying outlandish things like calling Social Security a ‘pyramid scheme’ and…Sharron Angle.  No matter which Republican emerges from this Primary – the failed former Senate candidate or the Washington Congressman who votes with his Party’s leadership 90% of the time – Nevadans will have a clear choice between a bipartisan problem solver like Catherine Cortez Masto and a far-right Republican who wants to privatize Social Security, eliminate the Department of Education, and opposes comprehensive immigration reform.”
