The mayor of Sparks and former Reno Mayor Bob Cashell helped hand out food to families in need on Wednesday.
Geno Martini and Cashell helped distribute about 2,000 baskets filled with food this morning at St. Vincent's Food Pantry on Fourth Street.
"It's good to get out and realize that there's so many hurting people, and it's enjoyable for me to get out and try and help any way that I can,” says Martini.
"This community's a very giving community, it really helps people. It steps up and helps people who are down and out, and this time of year Reno's even more giving,” says Cashell.
The baskets all together contained 85,000 pounds of food - and each one came with a turkey, ham and all the holiday fixings.
