Developer Lance Gilman announced on Friday that the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center sold over 64,000 acres to a software company based in Southern California. TRIC also sold its remaining 10,000 acres to various businesses.
"It's gone and you know I would've told you in 2000 when we started maybe three generations, my children's children might've been working on it," said Gilman.
Gilman says the largest parcel went to Blockchains, LLC, a company develops technology to distribute financial information securely. He says the land was paid for in cash. However, even with that final transaction complete, there's still a lot of work that needs to be done out at TRIC.
"We still have a lot of infrastructure to finish, we have the water importation project that we're working on and we have a lake to build and of course the Emerald Lakes project is going to bring us a downtown with hotels," said Gilman.
TRIC has now sold all of its 104,000 acres of land it originally purchased in 2001. Over 150 companies have a stake in the business park. Gilman says that by selling off all of the property, there's now a chance for industrial growth in the rural communities.
"Silver Springs, Yerington, Dayton, all the highway 50 corridor is going to be a alive with opportunity of many kinds," said Gilman.
