The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District tells us that the large plumes of black smoke seen east of Sparks are coming from a pile of shredded tires that are burning near the landfill.Â
Storey County responded to the fire and has it under control.Â
No injuries have been reported and the fire is not threatening any wildlife.Â
