This week's Someone 2 Know grew up in Yerington, graduated UNR, and now works as a firefighter for Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue. In addition to being a husband and busy dad of four, a few months ago Jesse Corletto opened the doors to his new business in downtown Reno - Record Street Brewing Company.

That’s where we met up with Corletto, to check out the new place.

The wood-fired ovens, covered in shimmery gold tiles might be the first thing you notice when you walk into Record Street Brewing Co.

"I knew pizza was gonna be the number one thing we're gonna serve here,” smiles Jesse.

Business co-founder, Corletto says the ovens, imported from Italy, and the secret sauce on the pizzas, are a nod to his family heritage;

"My mom, being Salvadorian and my father, you know, being Italian."

About five years ago, Jesse channeled his passion for food and entrepreneurship into buying the historic Alpine Glass Company building on Reno’s 4th Street.

"It's such a beautiful building with great bones…”

Originally built in the 1920's, it sat vacant for years.

"... it just needed to be showcased the way we're doing right now to the city of Reno."

It took five years of hard work, a lot of stainless steel beer tanks - and of course, the lifting of a mandated business closure - and in May of 2020, Record Street Brewing Co. opened its doors, mid-pandemic.

"The community has been very supportive, coming in and enjoying a great craft beer and pizza."

All the while, Jesse has been equally busy with his day job; Corletto is also a firefighter for Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.

"I’ve been a fireman for 19 years now and I love it.”

Jesse's shifts are often the traditional 24 hours on, 48 hours off. “It's a career that allows you to do other ventures on your time off.”

Jesse's venture also includes The Alpine, attached to Record Street Brewing Co…

“The historic portion of the building.”

It’s now re-designed as a performance and event space. Corletto says he's anxious for the day 100% capacity is allowed once again.

"The new 4th Street, this is the Brewery District, this is what we're doing and changing downtown Reno.”

Jesse also tells us 20% from the sale of one of the draft beers at Record Street goes toward the Truckee Meadows Fire Fighter Peer Support Association to help firefighters and their families.
